The Best of Both Worlds

Serena Williams and Kim Clijsters recently made tennis history at the "Best of World" exhibition after Rere was defeated (though with a foot injury?) in front of a crowd of 35 681, beating a previous record for the largest attendance at a tennis match during 1973.

Mind you, the match was probably so popular because it was originally supposed to be the "Best of Belgium" with Clijsters and Henin... but Justine Henin had an elbow injury so she had to pull out. Good thing for Rere to be there to help out! :) ... But then I think I would've preferred to see Henin vs. Clijsters to be honest.

During the match, Martina Navratilova was the chair umpire and Francesca Schiavone made a surprise appearance. Apparently there were fireworks and a concert too held after the match. Woo! Good job to the both of them.

This makes me sad. Like, genuinely sad.

Wanna know why?

...Because I'm Australian. And finding out that Sam Stosur - our "shining beacon of light" and hope for Australia - got defeated in 2 tight, close sets makes me really want to punch Roland Garros in the face.

I've really got nothing else to say.

Just. Poo.

But congratulations are in order to you too, Fran. Kiss it, hug it, cradle it, fist-pump about it all you want. I just hope that next year is Sam's year.

Ahh... it feels good to be back. Especially WITHOUT exams ;)
So thank goodness that's over. But one extreme downside is missing out on a huuuuuuuuge chunk of what seems to have been an awesome Roland Garros D:
